It’s the most important meal of the day, but too often, it’s a boring bowl of cereal or tea and toast. There’s so much more you can do with breakfast time, especially with the wealth of farmhouse produce on offer.
Farmhouse Breakfast Week is a nationwide call to Shake-Up your Wake-Up. All across the UK, people have been voting for the Best Breakfast which will be announced on January 27th. During Farmhouse Breakfast Week hundreds of breakfast events will be taking place around the country, from school breakfast clubs through to events at community centres and village halls, restaurants, cafes and farms.
It’s all part of a drive to get more of us making the first meal of the day chock full of good things and great taste. Producers in Northern Ireland have risen to the challenge. Dozens of Food NI members provided ingredients for this morning’s industry breakfast launch at CAFRE Greenmount Campus, Antrim.
They included Dale Farm, Clandeboye Estate Yoghurt Company, Armagh Cider Company, DJ’s Apple Juice, White’s Oats, Irwin’s Bakery, Hannan Meats, Gracehill Black Pudding, Annaghmore Mushrooms, Clements Eggs, Suki Tea, Punjana, SD Bells, Harnett’s Oils, Broighter Gold Rapeseed Oil, Keen Nut Butter, McKee’s Country Store, Andrews Flour Mill, and Erin Grove Preserves.
Guests tucked into Banana and Blueberry Porridge, Breakfast Bruschettas and Vanilla and Honey Smoothies. These type of foods help fill you up and stop you reaching for junk come morning coffee time.
47 per cent of us don’t have breakfast before we leave the house, but a good healthy breakfast doesn’t have to be time-consuming and your health will thank you for it. Why not try some of the yummy recipes attached?
So what are you waiting for? Enjoy a healthy, hearty and local breakfast tomorrow morning and Shake-Up your Wake-up!
