As part of their Foundation Degree in Hospitality & Tourism Management / Travel & Tourism Management, this year’s first year Southern Regional
College students are embarking on an ambitious project by organising Newry’s First food Festival in Newry Variety Market in the centre of the city on Friday 24th April from 12 – 6pm.
The aim of this food festival is to provide the local community with an exciting and new event experience and to promote local food producers, chefs and restaurants.
Entry is free and it promises to be a great day out to include the following:
- The marketplace showcasing local food producers and suppliers
- A pop-up restaurant area featuring local restaurants and eateries
- A chef demonstration area
- Child friendly activities and live music
Already there has been great interest from the local business community for the event which is being supported by Newry & Mourne District Council, Newry Chamber of Commerce, Hello Newry and Newry BID.
There are still places available for local food producers to promote their products – we are looking for the full range of products to be represented – jams, relishes, chutneys, breads, tray-bakes, veg, dairy products, specialty meats, fish, oils, dressings, sauces, confectionary, specialty items. To secure your place please contact Tanya Mc Aleenan on mcaleenant@src.ac.uk.
