Marie Curie Cancer Care is calling on anyone looking for an outdoors adventure to take part in the charity’s seventh annual Slieve Donard Mountain Challenge, taking place on Saturday, 9th June 2012.
Local businesswoman, Tracy Hamilton, Director of award winning Mash Direct, has not only registered to take part in this year’s event but Mash Direct will also provide welcome sustenance to all those who tackle Slieve Donard with her.
All aboard the Mash Direct bus bound for the Mourne Mountains! Summit Slieve Donard and then enjoy complimentary sausages, mash, carrot and parsnip and gravy courtesy of Mash Direct. Standing 850 metres high (2,786 ft), Slieve Donard is the highest mountain in Northern Ireland, with towering views over neighbouring peaks.
Tracy Hamilton said: “We are delighted to be part of this exciting and energetic event, raising funds to help Marie Curie Nurses continue to provide care for people with terminal illnesses in Northern Ireland. I am dusting off my mountain boots and greatly look forward to heading to the Mourne Mountains on 9 June.”
Suzy McIlveen, Marie Curie Events Manager for Northern Ireland, said: “This challenge offers people the chance to enjoy breathtaking views and an enormous sense of achievement having reached the highest point in Northern Ireland. Everyone taking part will be making a big difference, helping Marie Curie Nurses to provide many more hours of care, free of charge, to people with terminal illnesses and their families throughout Northern Ireland.”
