A special Christmas food extravaganza will be taking place at Comber Farmers’ Market on 3 December 2015, St Mary’s Parish Church Car Park, the Square, 9.00am – 1.30am. There will be 30 artisan food stalls and a packed programme of entertainment and fun for market goers.

Alderman Deborah Girvan who helps to run the market on behalf of Comber Regeneration Community Partnership explained, “We normally have around 24 regular traders attending the market but for the Christmas Market we have invited another eight artisan food traders to join us. Welcome additions include blended leaf teas, hand roasted coffee, and chilli jams and hot sauces. We are delighted to welcome Lisbarnett Turkeys and owner David McKeag, a local farmer from Lisbane, will be taking orders for his farm reared turkeys. The Krazi Baker is also coming with his griddle and will make his famous soda and wheaten farls on the spot. All the traders are busy preparing Christmas food especially for the market. Mince pies, Christmas puddings, Christmas cakes, mulled red wine mix, cranberry sauce, brandy butter, festive chocolates, and a special edition granola with cranberries are just some of the produce that will be on display for sampling, tasting and buying. You can also buy your Christmas tree at the market or order it and have it delivered to your door if you live within a 10 mile radius of Comber.

The church catering team will be serving up their popular morning teas and traybakes in the church hall; Andrews Memorial Primary School and St Mary’s Primary School choirs will be singing carols between 10.15am and 11.15am; and there will be demonstrations on how to make Christmas table decorations and wreaths. There will also be a free raffle to win hampers of food from the market and the draw will take place at 1.00pm. Bubbles the Elf will be dropping in to hand out lollipops to children and a face painter will be on hand to paint festive images on children and adult faces! We hope that people will come along and support their local food producers and enjoy a morning of festive fun and food.
