Belfast Restaurant Week Opens to a Battle of the Chefs

Belfast Restaurant Week opened on Saturday 6 October to a battle of the chefs, under the watchful eye of local broadcaster Pamela Ballantine. Three local chefs – David Scott, SHU Restaurant; Bruno Etienne, The Academy Restaurant; and Ray Malcolmson, St George’s Market Bar and Grill, battled it out in a cook off to produce a family meal from quality, locally sourced produce.

Chef David Scott from SHU Restaurant on the Lisburn Road picked up the coveted title – Family Dining Champion, with his mouth-watering meal of oven baked Irish cod served with fresh chilli parsley, Roosevelt potatoes and Gavin Fraser’s purple sprouting broccoli.

Battle of the Chefs is the first of many Belfast Restaurant Week events and was supported by NITB and the Northern Ireland Regional Food Programme.
